Top 5 things that go wrong at the Dunes

Top 5 things that go wrong at the Dunes

5. You get one or more flat tires on the way to the dunes.

4. You get stuck as you are finding you camping/parking spot.

3. It is raining and windy the entire weekend.

2. You run out of gas in the middle of the dunes.

1. Your sand buggy breaks and you have to go home ;(

These are my top 5, I can say that we have actually had all of these happen except number 2, and that is my worst fear. I am always asking Aaron "did you refuel?" For some reason though when you are at the dunes life doesn't seem to be so bad when one or more of these happen because you are at the DUNES!

So what would your top 5 be?

Kimberly's Pictures

One of the awesome families that we go duning with wanted to exchange pictures from last season.... I asked her if we could add them to our blog she was super nice and said sure. I realized once I got the pictures that us moms take lots of pictures of our family! haha This was the trip when Kim's husband Kent let My husband drive his buggy! Crazy Men!!!! So we parked and let everyone's belly settle and watched the men jump for a while!

Everyone waiting for the first big jump!

See Aaron standing taking pictures he's 6'4 that tells you that car is high in the air!

Thanks Kim for the pictures

Christmas and New Years

This year we went to Glamis for the week in between Christmas and New Years. It was weird packing up on Christmas but it was totally worth it! Aaron had arranged for us to do some trading for a 5th wheel toy hauler from one of the guys off of GlamisDunes.com and it was awesome. And he turned out to have one of the most beautiful sand cars you will ever see and was super duper nice. It really beat staying in the box trailer! It was big and nice and it really worked great for our family, I now really want something like that for the dunes and the off season as well. The weather was kind of cold and a couple of days it was rainy but we decided to tough it out (after all is there a better place to be toughing it out?) and it was a blast! We took the whole family this trip and so their was some rides I had to sit out but thanks to Brett, who took one of the girls with him I was able to get in some rides! The dunes were way different this time and the rain really made it some hard riding the last couple of days, nothing like wet sand in the hair and ears huh? There was so many highlights of this trip, I will try to recap them in few words! The drags....what can i say they are awesome because you get to see lots of really awesome buggies in a very short amount of time! We also went to horsepower wars, It wasn't exactly what I expected. I wish i could say it was amazing and awesome but I did get to see the "high roller" buggies and they were beautiful, but I wish they would have really pushed their buggies and gave us the show we wanted. But I have thought about it and think that if it was our own buggy and had that much money into it i would just sit and look at it! haha the best part of the trip to me was when we were on a ride and Aaron came across this awesome jump, we went over it a couple of times and then stopped to take pictures. The kids got out and played in the sand. As we were sitting there more and more buggies appeared and about 20 minutes into it we had four wheelers parked on one hill watching, side by sides in another and buggies all coming over this hill and hitting the jump! It was awesome there was one buggy there that was unreal! The guy rode it hard and fast! I loved watching him launch over the jump and then floor it to go around the next bowl! I wanted to ride with him bad but he was just too fast to even catch! His car was black and silver for those of you who know the fellow, I hear he came from far far away! I also got to ride in Kent's buggy and it was like riding on butter, so fun and exciting. Then he let Aaron drive it and Aaron also had a blast! He said he now needs at least a V8 car ...I worry about him ....he's addicted! But really thanks Kent for letting us feel that rush, it was awesome. It was a great trip, Santa brought the trampoline to the Sand dunes for them and they love Santa even more for that. I again was amazed at the hospitality of the duners, I have never been to anyplace where everyone is just so nice and excepting. Everyone loved seeing the girls in the buggy and thought it was so funny that even at our fastest the girls were either sleeping or singing jingle bells at the top of their lungs. We love the dunes and really wish we could live there! Even after a whole week of them I was still sad to leave. I really enjoyed the company of the women and feel like I can call them my friends now, what a great time we had. Aaron will be taking a trip on Presidents day, he will be taking my awesome brother in law and maybe more of his family, I unfortunately will have to stay home Dang it. My camera got full of sand and it stopped working, so half the pictures of the trip are blurry and the other ones didn't get to be taken, I need a camera just for the dunes I guess. Until next time..
Brett showing us how it is done!

I believe this is Oldsmobile, Matt showing us what his buggy can do!

oh the longing for another ride......

Brett flying high! How in the world did our buggy and two kids get under him? Brett is an awesome driver and has an amazing buggy!

Our set up! The girls loved having the trampoline, I loved the big trailer!

The drags...come on guys show us how much horse power you got!

Love the drags!

Glamis October 2010

THIS BLOG WILL BE COMPLETELY DEDICATED TO DUNING....LOTS OF PICTURES OF OUR TRIPS AND OF OUR FRIENDS SO THAT WE CAN SHARE PICTURES WITH THEM. THANKS FOR THE GREAT TIME THIS PAST WEEKEND!
This last weekend I went on a trip to the sand dunes with Aaron and some of his friends. It was my first true sand dune trip, i had been to the "little" dunes before but they did not even compare to Glamis. I have to say the first ride out I really thought my heart was going to stop on me, not joking. It was fast and crazy, Aaron led that ride and he loves being able to "read" the dunes and figure out where to go next. I have to say he is pretty amazing at leading and I really enjoyed watching him. I think the dunes were made for Aaron, i am a close second haha. After the first shock wore off or i just got brave enough to open my eyes, it was a blast. I have to say that usually you do not get sore from riding in a dune buggy, but i on the other hand am very sore because every muscle in my body was tight because of fear and excitement..mostly fear. I wish i could describe it to those who have never gone but its better than anything you will ever do..it's like being on the longest, funnest, fastest
roller coaster ever! The trip ended way to fast and i was bummed to be packing up, but Aaron still has some adjusting to do to the buggy. I was very impressed with the group of guys(and families) that was there, they treated me and my family wonderfully and were very respectful of everyone and the dunes. The dunes were of course breath taking and I am excited for the many trips to come.
